Effects of Covid 19 on Kashmir

Noval corona virus (covid-19) declared by world Health Organization as a pandemic affecting more than 215 countries worldwide. It is an infection disease caused by a virus that appeared in wuhan province located only a few km away from the world famous wuhan- lab. While all countries have adopted the tough measure to control the further spread of virus. Millions of millions person all over the affected by this virus. While about 3.88 millions of people have succumbed to death. Besides the loss of human life the virus also affected the economic, social and political section of countries

Primary the pandemic paralyzed the wheels of the government and delivery of services also got affected. This kind of handicapped was not witness even in the world wars. The human consequences and suffering became much higher as compared to many other crisis in contemporary history. The economic loss the, the human not only lost the economy but also physical and mantel health. 

Right now india is one of the most affected country in terms of daily rises cases and deaths after USA. We saw the millions of cases and thousands of deaths. People were grasping for oxygen due to the oxygen shortage, which was later fulfilled by the foreign aid. 

Against this backdrop, the u.t of jammu and kashmir also reflect the other states and implemented lockdown. Which caused deep impact on the economy of j&k.so let us discuss how this virus affected the economy of jammu and Kashmir. 

Economic effects 

The economy both rural and urban has been affected by this virus. The migrant workers depending on daily earning. Barely had saving which they could spend during emergency as most of j&k was under carfew before the spread of virus, abrogation of article 370 during lockdown most of the workers lost their jobs. 122 million people lost their livelihood within few months consisting about 75 precent small traders, 15 percent salavied people and 10 percent self employed. Lockdown affected the million of parents causing withdraw of children from private schools, even private school teacher suffering badly. The psychological disturbance results the domestic violence in many parts of kashmir rasing domestic violence results the many suicide cases in kashmir, one of the main cause was covid 19 many people lost their jobs and feel frustrated and comments suicide. 

Kashmir chamber of commerce and industries reports that service sector alone including tourism suffer and lose of Rs 9191 crore in first 120 days of lockdown after the Abrogation of article 370 on August 05. The sector also report the job losses of 1,40,500.the lockdown imposed to fight the spread of covid 19 virus has results into the total lack jam of all the sector of economy. Whether it is primary, secondary or territory. Tourism sector which is one of the most contribute to state GdP . All establishment are closed people lost their jobs, their is hopeless among the people both rural and urban areas. Agriculture sector is also affected by this virus but not too much as other sectors affected. One of the most important sector of kashmir that was effect by virus is kashmir handicrafts. handicrafts of kashmir lost its market due to this pandemic. 

The pandemic has already affected the education of all over the world and this pandemic also affected the education of kashmir as well. Due to the lockdown the students of j& k suffered a lot and they lost their precious academic year. It also exposed the digital infrastructure that most of the villages in rural ares does not access internet and mobile networking. 

At lost on the one side the pandemic effect all the sectors of economy but on the other hand the pandemic exposed the health sector. The current crisis has made all of us aware that the human race will vanish like anything regardless of economic and military might . If we again fail to create requisite health infrastructure for future.
