The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has announced the resumption of the previously stalled recruitment process for 4,002 constable posts in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The process, which had been put on hold due to allegations of irregularities and discrepancies in the recruitment of Constable positions, is now being revived after a period of uncertainty.

According to officials from JKSSB, necessary steps are being taken to ensure that the recruitment process continues smoothly and fairly. “The very next thing that we are working on is to ensure the recruitment process moves further, and we are trying our best to do it at the earliest,” stated a top official.

When asked about the possible timeline, the official avoided committing to an exact date but hinted that the government is keen to speed up the process, especially due to the rising demand for employment opportunities in the region.

The inquiry into the recruitment irregularities, initiated in January 2023, primarily targeted issues in the Constable Telecommunication posts. However, the inquiry did not find major irregularities affecting the overall recruitment, boosting hopes for a speedy revival.

Following the inquiry, the JKSSB received a go-ahead to proceed with appointments for the remaining posts. These include:

• 1689 posts for Constable Armed/IRP
• 1699 posts for Constable Executive Police
• 502 posts for Constable Telecommunication
• 100 posts for Constable SDRF

The revival of this large-scale recruitment drive comes as a relief to thousands of aspirants who had been waiting for clarity on the future of the selection process. The authorities have assured that transparency and fairness will be maintained throughout the process.
