J&K Warder Recruitment Rules 2026: Major Qualification Change
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has notified the Jammu and Kashmir Prisons (Subordinate) Service Recruitment Rules, 2026. One of the important changes under the new rules is related to the educational qualification for the Warder post.
The earlier 10+2 maximum qualification bar has been removed. Therefore, candidates having qualifications above 10+2, including Graduates, can also apply for the Warder post, subject to fulfilment of the other prescribed eligibility conditions.
Warder Post – Educational Qualification
| Particular | Details |
|---|---|
| Minimum Qualification | Matriculation |
| Earlier Maximum Qualification | 10+2 |
| New Maximum Qualification Bar | Removed |
| Graduates | Can Apply |
What Has Changed?
Under the previous recruitment rules, the Warder post had a prescribed maximum educational qualification of 10+2. This created a qualification ceiling for candidates possessing higher educational qualifications.
With the notification of the 2026 Recruitment Rules, this upper qualification bar has been removed. This means that candidates who have completed Graduation or higher studies are no longer excluded merely because they possess a qualification above 10+2.
Matriculation is the minimum qualification, and there is now no maximum qualification ceiling. Therefore, 10+2 pass candidates, Graduates and candidates with higher qualifications can be eligible for Warder recruitment, subject to the remaining eligibility requirements.
