JKPDCL Hikes Electricity Fee for Rural Non-Metered Consumers by 20%
Srinagar/Jammu, Aug 20:
The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (JKPDCL) has announced a 20% increase in electricity charges for rural non-metered consumers.
The revised tariff will come into effect from the upcoming billing cycle, impacting thousands of households in villages and rural areas of the Union Territory.
According to JKPDCL, the hike has been introduced due to rising power purchase costs and maintenance of the electricity distribution network.
This move adds to a series of tariff revisions in recent years, and rural consumers are likely to feel the burden most, as many areas continue to face irregular supply and long power cuts despite the fee hike.
