Over 10,000 Posts Lie Vacant, J&K Education Sector Faces Major Staffing Crisis
The education sector in Jammu and Kashmir is facing a significant staff shortage, with 10,446 posts lying vacant across the Directorate of School Education and the Directorate of Higher Education.
According to the figures, the Directorate of School Education accounts for the bulk of the vacancies, with 9,407 posts lying vacant. The Directorate of Higher Education has 1,039 vacant posts.
Direct Recruitment Quota
The figures under the direct recruitment quota highlight a substantial number of positions awaiting recruitment.
In the Directorate of Higher Education, 743 posts fall under the direct recruitment quota. These include 201 Gazetted posts, 275 Non-Gazetted posts and 267 MTS posts.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of School Education has 1,364 posts under the direct quota, comprising 594 Gazetted posts, 727 Non-Gazetted posts and 43 MTS posts.
The large number of vacancies, particularly in school education, highlights the need for timely recruitment to address staffing gaps and ensure the smooth functioning of educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
